Wilma Kruseman Ceramics

Welcome to my website. I am Wilma Kruseman, ceramicist.

In addition to being a ceramicist, I am also a garden and landscape architect, and you can see that influence in my work. My objects are hand-formed ceramics. I am often inspired by green spaces and nature. Many of the sculptures I make are of birds that I know from my garden or from nature. I love observing birds, and I find it exciting to capture the essence of a bird, its characteristic posture, and movement in clay.

Many of my sculptures remain outdoors in the garden year-round, even in winter. This is because they are stoneware, fired at high temperatures so that the clay vitrifies into "stoneware," making it non-porous. However, with certain exciting clay types that contain small stones, it's not always certain that the sculptures are frost-resistant. It's still ceramics, so footballing children or falling branches during a storm can cause damage.

Much of the work stays in the garden and our house before I am ready to part with it, allowing it to be sold.

If you are interested in viewing my work, please feel free to contact me to make an appointment.

This year I once again participated in the Atelierroute Driebergen on Saturday, October 5th, and Sunday, October 6th. The weather was beautiful, and we were happy to welcome nearly 150 enthusiasts.
